Chapter 73 Like A Storm

  • The rain pounded the cabin’s roof as if it wanted to tear it off completely. Outside, the forest was a black mass shaking with the wind and lightning. The Naples sky, darkened by the storm, seemed ready to swallow the world.
  • The cabin wasn’t in the Alps, but in a wooded area on the outskirts of Naples, in a clearing hidden among hills abandoned by urbanization. It was one of those places where no one asks questions, where the cell signal dies and the only voice left is the wind through the trees. An old building, with low ceilings, damp wood, and worn stone. It had belonged to a distant uncle of Paolo’s, who used it as a hideout for lovers and weapons. Now it was our makeshift training ground. Our refuge. Our shared hell.
